To understand that 90 million people are active in using Facebook; in sharing there personal information with who could be a complete stranger, might be one of the most dangerous things you could do to yourself. You are able to get a reputation on Facebook by what polls you take, what surveys you answer, what pictures you post; the list goes on and on. I understand the availability of people. If you need to find somebody and be completely certain they get the message you're trying to send, Facebook may be a good option, because letters are never 100% trustworthy. Facebook, with the number of people actively using it, can be dangerous in some ways, but with every con their comes a pro; you are able to send out information that you need to get to someone quickly with the reassurance it will get to them.

Notes 3. Facebook Redefines High School Reunions

Jeff Clarke, at age 33, decided not to show up at his 10-year high school reunion because he was aware that most of his close friends from high school had moved away and were likely not to show up either Clarke is also aware that he hadn't missed out on much. He has befriended most of his high school friends on his personal Facebook profile, and also classmates he wasn't too close too. He tells the readers that every day is like a high school reunion. According to the company, Facebook has more than 90 million active users. Facebook was created in 2004 by a college student from Harvard University so him and his classmates could communicate. Soon after that the site expanded to all college students, and not to far behind that were high schoolers logging into Facebook. By 2006 everyone who so desired to join, could. Facebook has become a way of getting in touch with people fast. For example; the planning of high school reunions.

Using Proquest is very useful because it allows me to obtain information that is recent and ongoing. Learning that 40 to 49 year olds using online social networking at first was surprising. The first thought that crossed my mind was, "how do they even know how to use it?" But I suppose some adults are more advanced than others. Without focusing on the cons of online social networking, I focus on the pros. For these older women online social networking helps them to shop and get opinions on their shopping. What they do with there time on the computer is more productive than the way adolescents, and young adults spent there time on the web. This article was especially helpful to me mainly because I learned that social networking doesn't just have to be about socializing. I know that's what its purpose is, but I learned that it can be used in a much more purposeful way.

Notes 2. For Forty-Something Women, Web Life is Close to Home

A recent study shows that woman who are 40 to 49 years old are more socially active with the internet rather than with their younger peers. There's a site for woman that goes by the name SheSpeaks; a woman's insight website and social network. The poll on SheSpeaks shows that nearly half of the respondents (2,000 respondents) have profiles on popular social networking sites. Not only do 40 year olds have these profiles, but a study shows that they log into them often more than one time a day. There is always two sides to a story. So we may think that these women are using the internet inappropriately; on the contrary; they actually are more useful with the web than young teens are. One example is they find out ways to monitor what their children are doing on their personal profiles. 40 to 49 year olds use the social network to trade off ideas for shopping purposes; which can be useful.
